Meet Emma Your Local Featherstone Agent πŸ‘‹πŸ‘πŸ“

Hi, I’m Emma your local independent agent for Featherstone and surrounding areas πŸ—ΊοΈπŸ“

Although I grew up in Pontefract I have close links with the town as I have friends and family that live in the area. I even met my husband in the Green Lane WMC many years ago! πŸ»

I’d like to explore what makes Featherstone a great place to live and why many people choose this small town as their home 🏑

The original village is now known as North Featherstone and was set around All Saints' Church and joined to today's centre by Featherstone Lane. What is now known as Featherstone was a later development (originally called South Featherstone) near to the railway station and the village of Purston Jaglin πŸš‚

The town's sport scene is very popular and is dominated by its local rugby league club, Featherstone Rovers. The community side Featherstone Lions also hails from the town and currently play their home games from their base, Mill Pond Stadium. My husband is an avid Rovers supporter he attends as many matches as he can and I often tag along too! If you see us, please come and say hi! πŸ‘‹πŸ‰

Featherstone Rovers Foundation which is part of the rugby league club works with a lot of young people within the community from grass roots rugby to Rover Tots at Post Office Road. Check out their Facebook page to find out what there up to over the summer holidays β˜€οΈ

Featherstone has some lovely places to eat there is Little Bakes on Station Lane their cakes are beautiful and Farmer Copleys (I love a look around the farm shop). Top House also serves a great Sunday lunch too! πŸ΄πŸ°

Purston Park is a firm favourite as it has a great park which my 6yr old can vouch for. It also has a lovely walk round the edge of the park which is popular with dog walkers and runners alike. The Park is host to Featherstone gala which is arranged in July of each year and is always popular. πŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊπŸ›πŸŒΈ

The town has grown in popularity in recent years due to the Colliers Court development being built. It has brought many new families to the town as the purchase prices are affordable and its easy access to the M62 πŸš™

If you are considering selling your home, then here a few myth busting tips which may help you make your decision:

πŸ‘‰The best valuation isn’t always the highest.
Sellers these days are more price-savvy than ever as a huge amount of information about past sales is available online. Twitchy lenders are also unwilling to provide a mortgage if the price is outside market norms. If your valuation is astronomical, you’ll deter genuine buyers and drag out the sale (and wind up dropping your price eventually). Always go with an agent with a good track record, who gives you comparable evidence and who tells it to you straight.

πŸ‘‰Do would-be buyers often make their minds up within a few seconds of walking into a house?
Yes, yes and yes again!! The first minute or two are quite often all a buyer needs to know if this is the house for them

This is why number 3 is so important:

πŸ‘‰Is a tidy house better to show would-be buyers than a house which has a lived-in look?
Yes, it’s critical to present your property at its best. Your home doesn’t just need to be a showroom, but you should declutter as much as possible. It can be challenging work, but if you want to sell your home it’s worthwhile. This not only helps sell your property but can help you achieve a better price too.

Featherstone might not be the most talked-about area in the Five Towns, but its blend of history, community spirit, make it a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
